Georgina’s Community Farmer’s Market As urban centres continue to grow our ties with the producers of the products that sustain our daily lives continue to be diminished. In the last five years we’ve lost more than 20,000 farms in Canada. Today’s trend towards supporting your local economy provides a prime opportunity to support our agricultural heritage and sets the perfect backdrop for what is a favorite activity for many: The Farmers’ Market. Farmers’ Markets offer a wealth of opportunities for our community. They provide a much needed forum; a chance to voice our concern for the land and express our support and desire for the production of fresh, local goods. There is also a sense of community. The Farmers’ Market creates a space where neighbours can circulate and have an opportunity to communicate with each other and share their thoughts and ideas about their community…and perhaps a recipe or two. They provide an opportunity for residents to purchase quality goods from a variety of agricultural, artisans and other local producers. This benefits our economy, shows strong community ties and reduces emissions due to less travel of the wares. Green River Coffee is happy to be a participant at Georgina’s Community Farmer’s Market and would like to take this opportunity and invite you to visit us and all of the vendors every Friday from 3pm until dusk (8pm) outside the Georgina Ice Palace on Woodbine Avenue in Keswick starting June 6th. Our last Sunday market will be June 1st. This is a new time from last year’s Sunday morning schedule. We hope that this will allow you to begin your weekend with the relaxing ritual of meandering about the market, enjoying the late afternoon air with a fresh cup of coffee…iced or brewed hot… while picking up your fresh supplies for the weekend. Looking forward to seeing you there! Tricia Green River Coffee The Ultimate Coffee Experience
